The Story
     
    Bal Harbour Association, Inc. has been in existence since the 1970s. Located on the north side of Clear Lake midway between Houston and Galveston, TX (across from NASA-Johnson Space Center), this community was built over several years following a well-planned idea.
     A protected marina was built to accommodate sail and power boats. Six tennis courts were completed to USTA specifications which delighted the tennis bunch. And a large swimming pool surrounded by cool decks was poured to complement a smaller wading pool. Already on the Bal Harbour property was a beautiful brick mansion (Windemere), just yards from the lake and surrounded by palm, live oak and pecan trees. Boat lovers, tennis hounds and sun catchers find the property much to their liking.
     Back in the day, this area around Clear Lake was sparsely populated and visited mainly by picnic parades and weekenders wanting to escape the city heat by relaxing in a soft breeze at the shoreline.

     Today, just about where the mansion's original homeowners would have waded into the lake from a sloping lawn is the Bal Harbor Marina. The current shoreline is bulkheaded and the marina is gated for security. The view of the mansion and swimming pools from the marina is quite a pretty sight.
     With membership you can indulge your passions for boating, tennis, swimming, and sunning. Windemere Racquet & Swim Club (WRSC) membership offers use of the tennis courts and swimming pools; Bal Harbour Marina membership offers a boat slip plus access to the tennis courts and swimming pools. Rental of Windemere Mansion is available for your special event with or without membership.
